FAQ
I need a website, how much do you charge?
I wish I could give you a quick answer, but because your project is unique, I need to understand your objectives before I can estimate cost and time line.
I call this “the formalities,” and it starts with filling out my client questionnaire and sending that to me for review. I’ll give it a cursory glance and respond as quickly as possible with a very rough ballpark estimate to see if I am within your budget’s comfort zone. If so, I’ll put together a formal cost estimate.
This exercise lays the foundation for proper planning, and your responses will stay in the front of your project folder for the duration where I’ll regularly refer back to them to make sure we’re on track.
But seriously, how much do you charge?
The bottom line is, it has always been my policy to not publish rate information online. It can make life difficult for other designers, and I don’t compete based on price.
I’m not the cheapest designer on the block, nor am I the most expensive. In today’s economic climate, value means more now than ever, and if you work with me, you’ll get a bang for your buck. I can safely say that without exception, I go the extra mile for each of my clients, and I care very deeply about their success—it determines my own.
If you still want to know my hourly rate or a quick ballpark dollar figure of what your project might cost without having to fill out a whole bunch of forms, just and tell me what you need in a paragraph or two, and I’ll send you a price range to give you an idea.
How long will it take?
Depending on scope, most projects are in production from anywhere between 3-12 weeks from your scheduled start date.
If yours is a rush project, or you don’t wish to wait for my next schedule opening, I offer project management services (including creative direction, strategy and client training) and will put my team of strategic partners together for you to get it done. (Rush fees may apply.)
My website is broken and my web designer has disappeared, can you fix it?
If you are willing to start fresh, I would love to talk with you.
Can you design my email newsletter?
This service is coming soon.
Can you help me market my website?
Yes. I work independently or with a team of experts depending on what you need, ranging from social media campaigns to search engine marketing. The first step is an evaluation and needs assessment. Please set up a telephonic intake session, it will take up to an hour. (Consultation fee applies, ask for a quote.)
Can you design my MySpace/Twitter page?
You bet.
Can you design my business cards/brochures for me?
I would be delighted to provide creative direction and assemble my team of talented print designers to execute all of your print design needs.
What do you mean, your team of designers?
Over the past seven years, I’ve cultivated very strong relationships with other designers—many of whom offer complementary services. I have negotiated agreements with the brightest stars among them to provide additional services to my clients. This is a win-win-win for my clients (I can do more!), my colleagues (they get to work with my amazing clients!), and most especially me (I can take a weekend off now and then!)!
Can we meet to discuss my web project?
I would be delighted to meet with you if you’re based in Anchorage, however, due to supply and demand (of my time) and the large volume of inquiries I receive, I am no longer able to provide free consultations. It is best to fill out my client questionnaire and return that to me first, you may find that based on our conversations via email, we may not need to meet in person.
If you still wish to meet before proceeding, I’m happy to schedule an intake session either by phone or in person if you’re local. (Consulting fees apply.)
How about by phone?
I do offer brief, free initial phone consultations by appointment. Please contact me via email to arrange a time.
